Product Description
Paraxyl CR 12.5mg Tablets contain paroxetine HCl, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. The controlled-release (CR) formulation provides gradual release of the medication, helping maintain stable drug levels and improving tolerability.
Uses
• Major depressive disorder
• Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
• Panic disorder
• Social anxiety disorder
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
How It Works
Paroxetine HCl increases the availability of serotonin in the brain, helping to:
• Improve mood and emotional stability
• Reduce anxiety and panic symptoms
• Decrease feelings of sadness and hopelessness
• Enhance overall mental well-being
Dosage & Administration
• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Usually taken once daily
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or split
• Can be taken with or without food
• Take at the same time each day
Possible Side Effects
• Nausea
• Drowsiness or insomnia
• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Increased sweating
• Sexual dysfunction
When Not to Use
• Allergy to paroxetine HCl
• Use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping them
• Concurrent use with thioridazine or pimozide
Precautions
• Monitor for suicidal thoughts, especially at the start of treatment
• Avoid alcohol
• Inform your doctor about all medications being taken
• Use cautiously in patients with liver disease, kidney disease, epilepsy, or bipolar disorder
Warnings
• May take 2–4 weeks to achieve full therapeutic effect
• Risk of serotonin syndrome when combined with certain medications
• Do not stop treatment abruptly due to potential withdrawal symptoms
• May cause drowsiness and impaired alertness
